Verstappen Wins Inaugural Miami Grand Prix
A Thrilling Finish
In a thrilling finish to the inaugural Miami Grand Prix, Red Bull's Max Verstappen held off a late-race charge from title rival Charles Leclerc's Ferrari to claim victory at the Miami International Autodrome.
With just a handful of laps remaining, Leclerc closed the gap to Verstappen and looked poised to overtake. However, Verstappen defended resolutely and crossed the line just 1.3 seconds ahead of Leclerc, securing his third win of the 2022 Formula 1 season.
A Race of Strategy
The Miami Grand Prix was a race of strategy, with the teams making several pit stops throughout the 57-lap race. Verstappen pitted twice, while Leclerc made three stops. In the end, Verstappen's strategy proved to be the more effective.
Verstappen's win extends his championship lead to 26 points over Leclerc. The next race on the Formula 1 calendar is the Spanish Grand Prix, which will take place on May 22.
